We hope your Memorial Day holiday was safe and you took a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by our military men and women to keep our country free. God bless them.

As the wind began to lie down across Lake Calcasieu yesterday afternoon the seagulls began to pick at the surface for belly filling shrimp driven to the top by feeding Speckled Trout. Excited fishermen raced to the event for some pole bending action and some fish for the freezer. Calm winds will improve the water conditions and the top water bite will improve during the month of June. The next few weeks through mid August will be a great time to catch fish here on the lake.
