CALM WIND AND CLEAR GREEN WATER EQUALS GOOD CATHCING
The August pattern is up and running. Captain Devon Fontenot says good solid speckled trout are being caught up and down the ship channel on both sides. He said fishing early with live shrimp and finger mullet have been the best around the wash out, nine mile and the old engine. Further down the rocks limits of trout have been coming across from the Pilot station and around mile marker one. Captain Mike Bares spent most of the week fishing the big jetties and catching trout and redfish for his clients. Fishing remains good around commissary point on the east side of the lake. LSU colored Hackberry Hustlers have been good very early. With the water temperature up in the 90’s the better fishing has been in the deeper green water.

Beat eggs, brown sugar, molasses and melted butter together. Mix together dry ingredients and add with the boiling water to first mixture. Beat well, then pour into a well greased 13x9x2 inch baking pan. Bake in preheated oven, 350F for 35 minutes. Serve over rice in soup bowls.
